What interests me most about photography is capturing the patterns of life. I try to find visual patterns like the ceiling of a mosque in Oman, flora in Hawaii, or the patterns shaped by light, rocks and water; and patterns of behavior as seen in the young girls learning to balance dishes on their heads in a mountain village, a man carrying water buckets in Cambodia, or streetside dining in Paris. Likewise, I am fascinated with bringing our emotional responses to life's patterns to the viewer's consciousness.
My artistic sensibilities are on overdrive when I create my handmade knit and crocheted thneeds. I love creating wearable art where the balancing of color, design, and the weight and texture of the wool or other natural fibers enables others to "get" the sensuousness of the finished thneed. Thneese creations are a delight!
